Empire State College, of the State University of New York, is the SUNY college for adults. Online, with a group, or working one-to-one with your professor, it's a more flexible, personalized way to take the courses you need.
Online Study
Many busy adults choose to study through our Center for Distance Learning, the largest online education provider in New York. You can work entirely online with a faculty mentor to get oriented, design your degree program, select your courses, and use our convenient, on-demand student resources from home or on the road.
Individualized Undergraduate Programs
You'll create an individualized associate or bachelor's degree program to meet your interests and educational goals. Based in one of our 11 broad areas of study, your undergraduate degree program can be as creative or traditional as you want it to be.
Credit for Prior Learning
Whether you've attended other colleges, built a career, or simply pursued personal interests, you may easily transfer your college credits and apply for the opportunity to earn credit for college-level learning gained in work and life.
Accreditation
Empire State College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Founded in 1971 as a part of the State University of New York, Empire State College was designed to meet the needs of adult learners. The college was the first public nontraditional higher education institution to be accredited and is one of the 13 arts and sciences colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system.
